Mirror & Common Carp (Cyprinus Carpio)

We have been successfully spawning carp for over 20 years and have stocked them widely throughout the UK from commercial fisheries, club waters to private landowners, the aquatic trade and for university research.  Always a popular fish with customers they are really an essential species for most commercial fisheries.  Their ability to grow rapidly in the right conditions ensures that they contribute significantly to match weights in summer months.  The coarse fish record for a mirror carp is 67lbs 8oz taken in Kent in 2008.

The strain of carp that we produce is fast growing and tough with scale patterns from lightly scaled through to fully scaled mirror and hard fighting common carp.  Particular care is taken in selecting broodstock with the right scale patterns and vigour.  Spawned in spring and early summer we stock the young fry into purpose built rearing pools on our farm to grow on throughout the summer and early autumn months.  In the right conditions our carp can grow to   4-6” within the first year and these are ideal for growing on in stock ponds for eventual stocking into fishing lakes.  Key to their success is good management of the stock ponds to provide the maximum production of natural food, supplemented by a feeding a good quality feed.  This not only optimises growth but ensures that the fish maintain a balance of nutrients essential for health.

Most of our carp production is in the 4-10” range but we do have larger fish available and occasionally specimen sized fish.  Please contact us to check on availability.  All our fish are health checked prior to gaining consent for stocking and we are routinely inspected by CEFAS. In addition we have a strict biosecurity plan operational on site in accordance with the appropriate authorities.
